Drill and tap a Mauser receiver for scope bases Tube. Duration : 1.48 Mins.
If you have the right tools it is fairly easy to drill and tap a Mauser receiver to accept scope bases. Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, demonstrates the process for drilling and tapping a receiver using only hand tools. He begins be securing the receiver in a special drill and tap fixture made by Wheeler Engineering. A drill bushing is inserted into the fixture to ensure the hole is properly spaced. A bit of cutting oil is applied to speed up the process. Once the hole is drilled, the drill bushing is replaced with the tap bushing and the hole is tapped by hand. Remember to go slow during this part of the process, backing off the tap every quarter turn to prevent breaking the tap.

ERMA 22 LR Conversion for Mauser k98 - Show and Tell Tube. Duration : 7.50 Mins.
Just thought I'd share some info and video of the ERMA .22 LR conversion kit and 1944 German Mauser k98 that I've had for a couple of years before I go trade it in on a few different guns. It was given to me by my mum's husband, who got it from his father-in-law, who brought it over here from his tour in Europe during WWII. As mentioned, if I had the original case and extra magazine, the conversion alone would be worth a chunk o' change, and if I had the original bolt, trigger guard, and base plate/spring for the Mauser, that also would be worth something. However, as-is, I have two semi-complete deals that are only valued at 0 tops. I've put 200 rounds through it, and it shoots straight, but the 5-round magazine kinda sucks and it tends to not want to feed the first round properly without a bit of help to guide it in. Never been a collector type and would rather have something I can actually shoot, so I'm trading it in on a Mosin-Nagant and a couple of other cheap guns. Don't mind the slurring speech and rambling talk - it was pretty late at night. UPDATE: I DO NOT HAVE THIS RIFLE/KIT ANYMORE. I sold it for a pretty fair price and picked up four other guns, which really got the ball rolling on my gun collection.
Do it yourself concrete staining is the cheapest and easiest way to improve the appearance of your concrete surfaces. The alternatives, tearing out existing concrete and replacing with new or ornamental overlays, are not recommended for do-it-yourselfers and can be very expensive. But before you begin your staining task there are a few things you need to know.
There are two types of concrete stains to pick from, acid stains and acrylic stains. Acid stains work by chemically reacting with free lime in the exterior to produce a natural looking, penetrative color. They originate a mottled, variegated, multi-hued coloring. Every concrete exterior reacts differently to acids stains making each job unique. Acrylic stains are waterborne and have pigments that seep into the pores and cleave to the concrete, therefore creating a more consistent, semi penetrative color like that of a dye. Acrylic stains will help mask imperfections and discolorations whereas acid stains literally accentuate them.
Antique Price Guides
For many surfaces, acid and acrylic stains will work equally as well, but which one you pick depends on the look you want. However, there are situations where one type will work great than the other. For older, exterior concrete (more than 15-20 yrs old) acid stains may not work because much of the free lime has leeched away. Acrylic stains are great for old concrete because of its increased porosity over time. Acid stains work well with newer concrete because of the availability of free lime. If repairs need to be made such as patching pop outs or scaling, then acrylics may be the great option to help disguise the repairs. Any patching materials will stand out with acid stains. For flat trowelled interior surfaces with less porosity, acid stains are normally great because they don't wish as much penetration to color the concrete.

Before starting it's also important to have realistic expectations. Staining can turn dull, gray concrete into a gorgeous and colorful finish, but it's impossible to know exactly how the fulfilled, product will look, especially with acid stains. Every concrete exterior is dissimilar and so will accept stains differently. The exact same stain will have two dissimilar appearances with two dissimilar slabs. Even seasoned pros can't predict the exact outcome of a staining job. For this reason, it's not a good idea to try to exactly match the color of concrete to anything else such as brick or siding. There's a very good opportunity you won't be successful. Instead, pick a complimentary color or shade for your concrete. For instance, if you have light brown siding, then pick a dark brown stain.
The most indispensable part of staining is preparation. Take time in deciding how you want your concrete to look and getting the exterior ready to apply the stain. You get one shot at getting it right unless you want to do a major overhaul to the surface. Do it yourself concrete staining is not a difficult process but does wish an honest exertion to be satisfied your fulfilled, product.
